Susannah’s aim was to create a range of large sized functional handbags which were beautiful enough to be carried from day through to evening. She wanted the wearer to feel that their handbag was a work of art, and achieved this by creating her signature hand cut leather appliqué flower designs. In the beginning she made every bag herself from her bedroom in Hampstead, London.

Today, Susannah Hunter’s vision remains exactly the same, and working alongside her busy team, every piece is meticulously made at her central London atelier. The collection has expanded to include weekend travel bags and coin purses, which together with the handbags, sell in exclusive stores worldwide and have a dedicated following including Nicole Kidman and Uma Thurman.

Most recently Susannah Hunter Bespoke Furnishings was launched, still utilising the original leather technique, but now on a grander scale aiming to bring the colour and life of gardens inside homes through furnishings.
